Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have had a health check.

MBS item 81320

Dietetics health service provided to a person who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent by an eligible dietitian.

A ‘Referral form for Follow-up Allied health Services under Medicare for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ must be completed by a GP who has conducted a health check consistent with the ATSI Medicare health checks. This can be downloaded here.

Patients with type two diabetes.

MBS items 81120 and 81125

Item 81120 is an assessment performed by an eligible dietitian to determine whether a person is suitable for group services for the treatment of type two diabetes. Item 81125 is a health service provided by an eligible dietitian as a group service for the treatment of type two diabetes. 

To be eligible for these services, the patient must have in place one of the following:

• a GP Management Plan (GPMP) (item 721); OR
• for a resident of a residential aged care facility, the GP must have contributed to, or contributed to a review of, a care plan prepared for them by the facility (item 731). 

People living in rural and remote locations, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, for the treatment of eye and hearing health.

Rural Health Outreach Fund

The aim of the RHOF is to improve health outcomes for people living in regional, rural and remote locations by supporting the delivery of outreach health activities. This support is in the form of reimbursement, not lump sum payments.

The allocation decisions for this funding are made by the Department of Health and based primarily on identified service gaps. CheckUP is the regional fundsholder for this program.
