Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioner must be registered with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia. To be eligible to provide services under Medicare, allied health professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia.

Audiology

To be eligible to provide services under Medicare, allied health professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia. Audiologist must be either a ‘Full Member’ of the Audiological Society of Australia Inc (ASA), who holds a ‘Certificate of Clinical Practice’ issued by the ASA; or an ‘Ordinary Member – Audiologist’ or ‘Fellow Audiologist’ of the Australian College of Audiology (ACAud).

Chiropractic Care

To be eligible to provide services under Medicare, allied health professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia. Chiropractors must be registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia.

Dentistry

To be eligible to provide services under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, dental professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia.  Dentists must register with the Dental Board of Australia.

Diabetes Education

To be eligible to provide services under Medicare, allied health professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia.  Diabetes educators must be credentialled by the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA).

Dietetics

To be eligible to provide services under Medicare, allied health professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia.  Dietitians must be an ‘Accredited Practising Dietitian’ as recognised by the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).

To be eligible to provide services under Medicare, allied health professionals must meet specific eligibility requirements, be in private practice and be registered with Medicare Australia.  Exercise Physiologists must be an ‘Accredited Exercise Physiologist’ as accredited by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
