Continuing Professional Development
CQ Rural Health are an accredited Activity Provider Service of the RACGP QI&CPD Program, and are recognised for the quality education and training we offer GPs to help them meet their continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
There are qualified Education Activity Representatives (EAR) based in Biloela and Emerald, who facilitate CPD events which meet the RACGP curriculum guidelines and respond to GP training needs.
CQ Rural Health are also recognised training providers for ACRRM and offer CPD events that meet the Professional Development Program (PDP) administered by the college.
CQ Rural Health prides itself on offering CPD that is relevant, up to date and endeavours to equip GP’s with the knowledge and skills to practice in a rural environment.
CPD topics cover whole of practice topics and are therefore relevant to practice nurses, staff and health professionals in the community.
CQ Rural Health provides a student house in Emerald which is an accommodation solution for medical students wanting to complete rural work experience.
A partnership with the University of Queensland has resulted in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery students completing their rotations in Emerald and residing in a comfortable four bedroom home. Exposing medical students to a positive rural experience during their studies increases the chances of them wanting to return and practice in the ‘bush’. The house is also utilised by other universities.
CQ Rural Health are also looking to partner with other organisations to secure accommodation to attract students and graduates to the region. Please contact Emma McCullagh on 0448 106 691 if you have any questions about the student accommodation.
